When the Shower Pan Needs to Be Replaced
When a shower pan's waterproofing has failed, Keystone generally recommends replacing and properly rebuilding the affected pan rather than attempting an unreliable temporary patch. Water that gets past failed waterproofing can keep damaging the structure underneath, even when the tile looks fine.
In many cases the shower pan and the affected lower portions of the shower can be rebuilt while other areas are preserved — whether that's appropriate depends on the existing waterproofing system, the tile and the overall shower construction.
